Usually I like to blog about the parts of my job that are glamorous and fun, and this project is a little more down-to-earth. But it could also be very helpful for those who are getting a little older and would like to be able to age in place... or those who are caring for aging parents or spouses. Here it is in my workshop, unboxed and ready to be delivered and installed. Can you tell what it is? It's a special toilet seat for people who have trouble standing on their own. It's also got a bidet seat to make personal hygiene easier. I've had some family members with health problems, and getting up and down was really hard for them. It was also tough for the caregivers. It can be really hard on your back to lift someone out of a sitting position. This gadget lifts the seat up and makes it easy to tilt forward and stand. I don't usually link outside of my blog, but this is a great product, so here's their website: On a side note, if you have one of these installed, be sure to run it into a GFCI outlet for safety.
